Cadence is defined as steps per minute.

Focusing on running cadence is the easiest way to develop a proper running gait. Cadence is a good measure of the efficiency of your running speed. A higher cadence helps you bounce less, land lighter, and run more efficiently. As you start sustaining an ideal cadence you'll likely find yourself less injury prone and faster.
